The Mason County Lady Royals finished first on Saturday in the first indoor track and field meet in Maysville this winter.
Mason County finished with 97 points, topping Dixie Heights, who finished with 62. St. Ursula Academy was third with 53, George Rogers Clark was fourth with 47 and Bourbon County was fifth with 44.
The Lady Royal relay teams came up big, taking first in the 4×400-meter relay and first in the 4×800-meter relay. They also got a first place finish from Olivia O’Hearn in the pole vault at 9-00, while Abigail Dawson added second in the event.
While O’Hearn was the only individual winner from Mason County on the day, the Lady Royals got second place finishes from Dawson in the 400-meter dash, Paige Decker in the 800-meter dash, Alyssa Bisotti in the 1,600-meter run and Hayden Faris in the 3,000-meter run.
Fleming County finished 12th with three points. Madison Sparks posted the team’s best individual finish, placing fifth in the shot put at 27-03.
Mason County finished fourth with 43 points and Fleming County was eighth with 24 points on the boys’ side. Simon Kenton claimed the boys’ team title with 85 points, George Rogers Clark was second with 81 and St. Henry was third with 61.
Shepard Daulton posted the Royals’ best finish, claiming second in the shot put at 35-06. Nicholas Drury was fourth in the 800-meter run, Isaiah Riggs was fourth in the 1,600-meter run and third in the 3,000-meter run and Kemper Arrasmith was fourth in the long jump.
Mason County’s 4×400-meter relay team placed third behind GRC and Simon Kenton.
Cooper Schwartz was the top finisher in the shot put at 36-09. Hayden Ramey was fourth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.15 and was second in the 400-meter dash at 58.37
