Officials with Meadowview Regional Medical Center issued a press statement this week related to a lawsuit pending in Fayette County Circuit Court.
The civil case is against cardiologist Dr. Raghuraman Srinivasan who resigned from MRMC September 2010, and now practices with Kings Daughters Medical Center out of Ashland.
Rumors and speculation in the community about the lawsuit reported to The Ledger Independent were directed to MRMC CEO Robert Parker and LifePoint Hospital, the parent company of Meadowview late last week.
The following was released Thursday.
“We are aware of misunderstanding in the community about a pending legal matter, and we wish to clarify the facts. A lawsuit has been filed in civil court on behalf of Meadowview Regional Medical Center against Raghuraman Srinivasan, M.D., contending that he violated the terms of a contractual agreement with the hospital. We cannot comment about this matter because it is currently in litigation, and we expect it will take several months to be resolved. In the meantime, our hospital’s cardiology team will continue its proven track record of clinical excellence in providing the highest quality care for our friends and neighbors.”
Srinivasan was contacted Friday for comment on the civil suit, but declined on the advice of his legal counsel.
