Maysville Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found under a bridge on Wednesday evening,
According to Mason County Coroner David Lawrence, the body of Clarence Thacker was found under the Newtown Bridge in Maysville at about 8:30 p.m., by people who were going fishing. The men noticed the body wasn’t moving and notified police, he said.
When police arrived they found a deceased male who was identified as Thacker, 49, of Maysville.
An investigating into the death is ongoing although no foul play were present at the scene, according to MPD Detective T.C. Rice.
Although a autopsy was not performed and natural causes are suspected as the reason for the death, Lawrence said he did order toxicology testing. Results will not be available from those tests for four-to six weeks, he said.
In addition to MPD and Lawrence, the Maysville Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
