BROOKSVILLE — The Brooksville First Stop gas station sold a winning Cash Ball ticket on Wednesday.
According to First Stop General Manager Christina Owens, the lottery ticket was sold and verified on Thursday, but no further information could be provided.
“We did sell the winning ticket and we verified it to make sure it was a winner,” she said. “We can’t give out the winner’s name, however, as they haven’t released that information yet.”
Owens said she was excited that First Stop sold the winning ticket.
“It’s the largest jackpot ticket we’ve sold for one of the online games,” she said.
Kentucky Lottery spokesperson Jennifer Cunningham confirmed a Brooksville resident claimed a winning Cash Ball ticket 225 ticket that matched four of the numbers. The winning numbers were 1, 11, 15, 30 and the Cash Ball number was 14.
“He checked his ticket the next morning by calling the lottery’s winning numbers hotline,” she said. “The winning numbers matched the first line on his ticket.”
According to Cunningham, the winner wished to remain anonymous, but he did allow her to provide comments about his win.
Kentucky does not require a lottery winner’s name to be published.
“I called the number three times just to be sure,” he said. “I knew they were mine. I was happy. I’m going to buy a new set of golf clubs.”
Cunningham said the man had been playing the same numbers for the last three months.
The winner of the draw received $225,000 with the winning store will also receive 1 percent of the winnings, which equals $2,250.
The Cash Ball drawing is held every evening at 10:50 p.m. with the top prize being $225,000 for matching all of the numbers.
