Former Mason County Royal and Tennessee Volunteers legend Chris Lofton will be inducted into the Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame next spring.
Lofton, a member of the 2003 state championship winning and 2004 state championship appearing Mason County Royals basketball teams, was an integral part of the Mason County offense throughout his high school career.
In 2003, the Royals defeated Ballard 86-65 to take home the state championship. Mason County lost 66-56 to Warren Central in the 2004 state championship game.
Lofton was then named the 2004 Mr. Kentucky Basketball, and was recruited by the University of Tennessee.
Lofton then went on to become the 2006-07 AP SEC Player of the Year, a three-time All American and is still the SEC’s all-time leader in 3-Pointers with 431. Auburn’s Bryce Brown is second place, with 382. He has since become one of five Vols to have their jersey retired.
Since retiring from his professional career, he, alongside fellow Mason County Royals basketball legend Darius Miller have hosted the annual Chris Lofton and Darius Miller Skills camp at the Mason County Fieldhouse each summer for kids wanting to learn the basics of basketball, or further develop their skills on the court.
Joining Lofton in the Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026 are Rod Delmonico, Shyra Ely, Lawrence Johnson, Erica Popson, Charles Rosenfelder, Kylee Rossi, Brenda Webb and Ralph Weekly.
The 2026 Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame is scheduled to be held April 10-11, 2026.
