On Saturday, Sept. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m., the Ripley Friends of the Library will host their Silent Auction and Fish Fry.

The Ripley Friends of the Library raise funds to help with bringing programs to the library and contribute to other things that are needed. The event is scheduled to take place at the Lions Club Shelter along the Ohio River. In case the weather doesn’t cooperate, the event will be moved to the Ripley Library Annex.

This is the fifth year for this event. The first-year local artists and crafters created fish, the second year it was oars, third year birdhouses and the fourth year fronds. This year local artisans are helping to support this event by creating items in any medium that was inspired by the Village of Ripley or the Ohio River. There will be 20 items to be auctioned. Most of the items have been completed and can be found on the Ripley Library Facebook page www.facebook.com/ripleyohiolibrary.

You do not have to attend the fish fry where the bids will be tallied to bid. To start bidding, just stop by or call the Ripley Library to submit your bid or call 937-392-4871. All bidders will be given a bid number that will be used on the bid sheet instead of their name. Minimum starting bid is $25. You can also bid the day of the fish fry. Each item has been assigned a number to use when you are bidding. The items pictured on Facebook have the number attached
