Maysville Hands of Hope is hosting its second annual Eggstravaganza, on March 26 at Rotary Park in downtown Maysville.
According to the founder of MHOH Niccole Harris, it will be a fun family event where everything is completely free.
Harris started Maysville Hands of Hope more than a year ago as a Facebook page called Maysville Free in Need. The Facebook page helped to provide the community with a way to share resources and give away multiple items from clothing to furniture completely free and help those in need of assistance.
The Eggstravaganza had 17 tables piled with clothes last year, as well as shoes, books and other items. This year the event has grown.
“There’s going to be spring clothing, baby items, housewares, shoes and more, also many local businesses are setting up booths to give out information about local resources,” said Harris.
There will be a big slide donated from Journey’s Jumpy’s set up, as well as a popcorn machine, said Harris.
“Lunch will be provided and of course completely free,” said Harris.
According to Harris, there will be two Easter egg hunts, one for ages five and under which starts at noon and a second one starting at 12:15 p.m. for ages 6-13.
Harris said more than 20 local businesses and organizations such as Comprehend, Buffalo Trace Health Department, CrossPoint Community Church, Shepard’s House, The National Alliance on Mental Illness and more will be in attendance with booths set up.
“My goal this year is to serve more residents and merge the community with resources, I have enjoyed showing love to our community through these events and want to extend that opportunity to local organizations; it’s a great feeling,” said Harris.
Any businesses or organizations may continue to sign up to set up a booth at the event until March 18, said Harris.
”Until March 18 we will still be taking donations, mainly donations of hot dogs, bottled water, individual bags of chips and pre-filled Easter eggs. Anybody wanting to donate can call or text me at 606-375-7006,” said Harris.
Harris said Hands of Hope is also accepting monetary donations and anybody who would like to contribute will find their cash app on the Maysville Hands of Hope Facebook page.
There will be three $50 gift cards given away at the event as well, said Harris.
“This is going to be a fun day for the whole family and I hope everybody who is able to will attend, and all items are free to anybody who wants them,” said Harris.
