The Luttrell Rangers finished in second place in field, while the Maysville Raiders finished in fourth place in field and was the fourth place technician team. Georgia Team Thunder finished in fourth place in first aid.

The four-day competition included a number of events where teams learned, executed and maintained required mine site emergency rescue skills for trapped or injured miners. Challenges included a written skills test, hands on and written first aid tests, hypothetical problem-solving and a timed mock rescue observed by a panel of judges.

“Our teams at Carmeuse train hard throughout the year and perform extremely well in regional and national mine rescue contests each year. It’s extremely rare for one company to have three of its teams in the top four positions of a major mine rescue competition, and we’re extremely proud of all of our teams,” said Carmeuse Area Operations Manager Mark Davis.

Viewed as a cornerstone for a sustainable working environment, health and safety initiatives at Carmeuse have inspired Safety First and Always as one of its five leadership principles.
