Mason County to add wrestling as a sport

Mason County High School and Middle School will be adding wrestling as a sport this winter.

A team meeting will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. to gauge interest at the Commons Area Mason County Career Magnet School on Tucker Drive.

The opportunity is open to both male and female students wishing to participate and must have a physical on file to compete. The middle school team will be made up of seventh and eighth graders, high school team ninth through 12th grade.

Practices are expected to be Monday through Thursday with meets on Saturday.

The Royals will compete in the 8th Region with Ashland Blazer, Belfry, Boyd County, Greenup County, Hazard, Johnson Central, Letcher County Central, Martin County, Montgomery County, Perry County Central, Phelps, Pike County Central, Pikeville, Prestonburg and West Carter.
