FLEMING COUNTY 38, WILLIAMSTOWN 37 (BOYS)
A 3-pointer near the buzzer from Cole Saunders gave Fleming County a 38-37 win over Williamstown on Saturday.
Saunders finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Panthers. Kaleb Flanery added 13 points and eight rebounds for Fleming County.
The Panthers move to 8-8 with the win and are scheduled to travel to Rowan County for a 61st District seeding game on Tuesday. The game is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
Williamstown falls to 5-12 with the loss and will take on Walton-Verona in the 8th Region All “A” Classic at Trimble County on Tuesday.
LEWIS COUNTY 56, RUSSELL 55 (OT) (BOYS)
The Lions moved to 3-0 in 63rd District play on Saturday with a 56-55 overtime victory over Russell.
According to Zack Klemme of The Daily Independent, Lewis County’s Zach Robersion scored while being fouled with half a second remaining to tie the game. Robersion was injured on the play and Tanner Willis shot the game-winning free throw.
Seth Wright scored 23 points and Sam O’Keefe had 15 for the Lions, who improve to 10-6 overall with the win. Lewis County is scheduled to travel to Greenup County on Friday.
Charlie Jachimczuk led Russell with 29 points. The Red Devils fall to 4-11 overall and 1-2 in district play. They’re scheduled to travel to Raceland on Thursday.
AUGUSTA 55, WEST UNION 49 (BOYS)
The Panthers snapped a five-game skid when they traveled across the Ohio River and took down West Union, 55-49, on Saturday.
Blake Reed led Augusta with 20 points. Stephen Cordle finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, Sam Appelman had nine points and 11 rebounds and Preston Philpot chipped in with nine points.
The Panthers improve to 3-12 with the victory and will host Covington Latin on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
NEW BOSTON 80, PEEBLES 58 (BOYS)
Glenwood New Boston had five players score in double figures to beat Peebles, 80-58, on Saturday.
Kyle Sexton had 25 points, Grady Jackson and Jerome McKinley each had 16, Tyler Caldwell had 13 and Marcus Saunders had 10, according to the Portsmouth Daily Times.
Weston Browning led Peebles with 22 points and Oakley Burba added 14.
BRACKEN COUNTY 64, DAYTON 60 (GIRLS)
The Lady Bears bounced back from a loss at Montgomery County on Thursday to knock off Dayton on Saturday, 64-60, behind a big night from Kennedy Carl.
The Bracken County senior finished with 32 points, five assists and four rebounds in the victory, which moved the team to 7-10 on the season. Aryah Myrick added 12 points, 18 rebounds, six assists and four blocks. Breanna Hamilton had 12 points, including a bucket that gave the Lady Bears a 62-60 lead with a minute left.
Bracken County is scheduled to take on Paris in the 10th Region All “A” Classic Saturday at Campbell County.
Dayton falls to 4-8 and will travel to Holy Cross to take on Newport Central Catholic in the 9th Region All “A” Classic on Tuesday.
MASON COUNTY 50, NICHOLAS COUNTY 31 (GIRLS)
Victoria Brooks had 15 points and seven rebounds to help the Lady Royals avoid a three-game losing streak with a 50-31 victory over Nicholas County on Saturday.
Behind Brooks was Emma Taylor with 12 points, Hannah Adkins with seven and Samantha Schumacher with six points and nine rebounds.
Mason County improves to 8-6 with the win and will travel to Pendleton County to face the LadyCats in the first round of the Kentucky 2A Championship Section 3 Tournament on Monday.
Morgan Watkins and Shelby Stafford each had eight points for Nicholas County, while Sydni Gifford had six. The Lady Jackets fall to 9-8 with the loss.
WEST UNION 66, AUGUSTA 52 (GIRLS)
A pair of double-doubles led the Lady Dragons to a 66-52 victory over the Lady Panthers on Saturday.
McKenzie Bickett had 29 points and 10 rebounds and Jaycee Baldwin had 10 points and 11 rebound for West Union, according to the SCOH 50 PLUS Twitter account.
West Union is scheduled to host Lynchburg-Clay on Monday at 7:30 p.m., while Augusta falls to 4-9 and will host Covington Latin on Friday at 6 p.m.
PEEBLES 81, NEW BOSTON 44 (GIRLS)
Peebles had three finish in double figures to top Glenwood New Boston, 81-44, on Saturday.
Jacey Justice led the way with 27 points, eight assists and five rebounds, while Tatum Arey had 16 points and Lily Gray had 12 points, according to the SCOH 50 PLUS Twitter account.
Peebles improves to 9-3 with the win and will travel to Western on Monday.
Lexus Oiler had 16 points to lead New Boston, who falls to 3-9 with the loss.
