GERMANTOWN – Bro. Virgil Conley, 94, of the Highland Heights community in Mason County, died at 5:25 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Conley was a self-employed carpenter. He served as pastor at Mount Olivet Christian Baptist Church in Mount Olivet.

He was born in Elliott County on Feb. 10, 1909, to the late E.T. Conley Sr. and Amy Ison Conley.

Surviving are his wife, Bessie Sloas Conley, whom he married Oct. 21, 1933. Also surviving are his children, Myrl (Jerry) Cordle of Germantown, Orella C. Southgate and Carl Conley, both of Maysville, Roger (Joyce) Conley of Germantown, David (Sue) Conley of Mount Olivet, and Johnnie (Glenlyn) Conley of Maysville; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are one sister, Marjorie Dyer of South Webster, Ohio; and a brother, Brach Conley of Wallingford. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Lynn Conley who died June 14, 1994; and sisters and brothers, Bessie Elliott, Vesta Lewis, Myrtle Dunaway, Amos Conley, E.T. Conley Jr. Johnnie Conley and Lee Conley.

Services were Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home in Germantown. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation was held Saturday at the funeral home.
