RIPLEY, Ohio — Patricia Jean (Grierson) Clark, age 51, of Lancaster, formerly of Aberdeen, Ohio, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 25, 1959, in Georgetown, Ohio, and was the daughter of Deloris Lightner Paul and Albert Gwynne Grierson.
Patricia attended Aberdeen Elementary School and Southern Hills Joint Vocational School. She graduated from Ripley Union Lewis High School in 1978. On July 4, 1996, Patricia was united in marriage to Carl Jeffery Clark in Vanceburg. They spent 15 years of devoting and sharing their lives together.
Patricia was a gifted and talented graphic artist and derived much pleasure and satisfaction in utilizing her artistic talent in designing signs at the Instant Sign Company in Lexington, until her illness caused her to terminate her affiliation with the company.
Patricia had a compassion for wearing hats. She very much enjoyed wearing hats and it was a rare occasion to see her without one. Her closet had a full array of hats of every color and description.
Patricia accepted Christ into her life at a young age and practiced her Christian faith. She was a member of Bryantsville United Methodist Church in Bryantsville and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Henry Allen and Pearl Vaughn Lightner; her paternal grandparents, Alfred Gwynne and Carrie Flaugher Grierson; her stepfather, Forrest (Pudge) Paul; three uncles, John Edward, George and Lewis Lightner; two aunts, Betty Lightner Day and Barbara Lightner Waits.
Patricia leaves to mourn her loving husband, Jeff Clark; her mother, Deloris Lightner Paul of Aberdeen, Ohio; her father and stepmother, Albert and June Grierson of Tollesboro; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Carol Clark of Vanceburg; one brother, John (Kristi) Lightner of Aberdeen; three sisters, Tammi Grierson of Ripley, Ohio, Tina Darlington of Aberdeen, and Penny (Michael) McCleary of Hawaii; one half-sister, Marsha (Brian) Arnett of Orlando, Fla.; three step-brothers, Jim Paul of Arizona, Bryan (Marsha) Grierson of Tollesboro, and Dane (Patricia) Grierson of Aberdeen; brother-in-law, Terry (Linda) Clark of Paris; two uncles, Rudy (Nettie) Lightner of Ripley, and Ted Waits of Mount Orab, Ohio; three aunts, Eva Lightner (Larry) Lanter of Mount Orab, Ohio, Wanda Lightner (Jim) Perraut of Aberdeen and Cheryl Grierson (Jerry) Lee of New Richmond, Ohio; three nieces; three nephews; and numerous friends and other relatives. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Toto.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2001, at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Faron Owens of Bryantsville United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley.
