FLEMINGSBURG | Wilburn Ray “Wook” Beckett, 76, of Flemingsburg, died Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cincinnati.
He was born July 6, 1936, in Fleming County to the late Charles Ralph and Lydia Beckett.
Wilburn was a auto body mechanic for 40 years at Doyle’s Auto Sales and Jerry’s Gems. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving on the USS Willis A Lee. He was a proud member of the Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 and the W.N. Fant American Legion Post No.5.
Survivors include his children, Regena Crawford, Shelia Lee, Cindy Bustos and Angie Beckett, all of Flemingsburg, Pam King of Mount Olivet and Tim Beckett of Lewisburg; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Annie Rice of Beechburg, and Jenny Hickerson of Flemingsburg.
Wilburn was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Naomi Gulley Beckett; son, David Beckett; brother, Buddy Bigelow; and two grandchildren, Shaun Crawford and Destiny Beckett.
Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2013, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post No. 5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
