DRY RIDGE — Heavy fog is believed to be the cause of a multiple vehicle accident in Bracken County that happened early Monday morning.

According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Cory Elliott, KSP received a call to respond to Kentucky 9 near the Bracken County/Pendleton County line around 6:35 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an accident involving a tractor-trailer and three other vehicles, according to Elliott.

Elliott said the tractor-trailer appeared to have been making a left turn onto Kentucky 9 when the truck was struck by vehicle traveling South. The truck was then struck by a vehicle traveling North and a vehicle that had been traveling behind the tractor-trailer.

“The driver was struck by three vehicles,” Elliott said. “The driver of the truck and one of the other vehicles went to the hospital with non-threatening injuries. Everyone is OK.”

The cause of the accident was being attributed to the thick fog in the area during the early morning hours.

“We do believe the low-visibility due to heavy fog is the reason the accident occurred,” he said.

According to Elliott, the road was shut down for hours and all traffic was being routed to Kentucky 8.

The road was closed to traffic until 8:30 p.m. on Monday.
