MAYSVILLE — Frances McCarthy Stahl, 75, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at her residence on Marco Island, Fla.

She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Francis (Fanny) Stahl.

Frances was born in Maysville on April 16, 1934, to the late Bertha Eppensteiner and George Rosser McCarthy.

She was a journalist, working in the newspaper business all her life. She worked in Maysville for the Daily Independent, The Mirror, and The Ledger Independent. She also worked for the Marco Island division of the New York Times.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by seven children, Katherine Stahl, Sally Stahl Parker, Greg P. Stahl and his wife, Jane, Marc F. Stahl and his wife, Margie, Eric Stahl, Blake Sathl and his wife, Katherine, and Mimi Stahl Grieb; 17 grandchildren, Angela Burton, Sarah Parker, Rex Parker, Molly Parker, Francis “Fran” Stahl, Amanda Stahl, Kristen Stahl, Lee Stahl, Aaron Stahl, Ryan Stahl, Kaitlyn Stahl, Brandi Stahl, Kara Stahl, Kylee Stahl, Brent Stahl, Sally Dwyer and Tonya Grieb; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew G. Stahl; and one great-granddaughter, Faith P. Burton.

Brell and Son Funeral Home will be handling the local services which are incomplete at this time.
