The 2025-26 Kentucky high school basketball regular season has just three weeks left on the schedule before district and regional tournaments begin. In the 39th District, each of the four boys and girls basketball teams have been battling through their district seeding contests, with just a few left to go.

The Mason County Royals currently sit at 2-2 against their district opponents following a 70-60 loss to the Bracken County Polar Bears on Friday, Jan. 23, their first loss to the team since 1999.

The Royals previously won against the Augusta Panthers in Game Two (92-84) and Bracken County in Game Four (67-61), followed by a 60-57 loss to the Saint Patrick Saints on Friday, Jan. 16, their first loss to St. Pat since the 2000 39th District championship.

At 2-14 on the season, the Royals are currently averaging 62.2 points per game, led by Ben Brookbank and Jace Merz.

The Lady Royals are currently undefeated against their district opponents, with two wins over Bracken County (Dec. 17, 68-56; Jan. 22, 55-50) and a 62-22 rout over Augusta. The Lady Royals have yet to face St. Pat.

The Lady Royals currently sit at 10-6 on the season and average 52.3 points per game, led by Amirah Reed and Kyleigh Kirk.

The Bracken County Polar Bears are currently 3-1 in the district following their recent win over Mason County, having earned a 79-72 win over St. Pat in Game One, the start to a five-game winning streak that ended in a 66-54 victory against Augusta and a 67-61 defeat to the Royals.

The Polar Bears currently sit at 10-8 on the year, averaging 62.6 points per game, led by Teegan Feldhaus and Greg Benedict.

The Lady Bears currently sit at 3-2 against their district opponents following a 50-34 win over Augusta on Friday, Jan. 23, having lost twice to Mason County and triumphed over the Augusta Lady Panthers (64-40) and the Lady Saints (72-25).

The Lady Bears currently sit at 9-7 on the season, averaging 50.8 points per game, led by Kailey Sharp and Kyndall Johnson.

The Augusta Panthers are currently 1-2 against teams in the 39th District, having lost to Mason and Bracken County and earned a 65-56 win over St. Pat in Game Three.

Augusta is currently 5-11 on the season, averaging 58.6 points per game, led by Maddox Hesler and Ely Dean.

The Lady Panthers currently sit at 2-3 in the district following their 50-34 loss to Bracken County, having picked up two wins over St. Pat (Dec. 9, 48-27; Jan. 8, 72-45) and one loss each to Mason and Bracken County.

Currently at 5-9 on the season, the Lady Panthers average 38.2 points per game and is led by Kahghan Hinson and Aryanna Davis.

The St. Pat Saints are currently 1-2 in the district prior to their game against the Polar Bears, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 30, having lost to both Bracken County and Augusta, and winning a historic upset over the Royals in their Jan. 16 game at the Fieldhouse.

The Saints are currently 7-8 on the season, averaging 53.4 points per game, led by Amari Myrick and Abi Ignacio.

The Lady Saints are currently 0-3 in the 39th District, having lost twice to Augusta and once to the Lady Bears. They have not yet tipped off against Mason County.

Currently, the Lady Saints sit at 1-13 on the season prior to their Friday night game against Villa Madonna, averaging 36.6 points per game, led by Lillian Klee and Elizabeth Tucker.

The 2026 39th District tournaments will be held at the Mason County Fieldhouse from Feb. 23-27. The boys 10th Region basketball tournament will also be held at the Fieldhouse from March 4-10. The girls first-round games will be held at various sites, with the semifinal and championship games held at Harrison County.
