Dear editor,
Kirby Bennett is a great choice for Maysville City Commission because of his character and over the top commitment to serving others.
Kirby was initially introduced to me as the BEST football player in the history of Maysville HS. I soon found out there is much more to Kirby than just his past greatness on the football field.
Kirby and I worked together as football coaches at Mason County HS. We coached football, but it was ultimately about how to help kids, and that was our purpose. Kirby went above and beyond to help our kids be successful. He coached all levels of football, from the youth through the HS program. His attitude was one of service. He wanted to be where he was needed and where he could help kids. He was a great voice of encouragement to our guys to handle their business OFF the field. Kirby loves football. But, he loves kids more and knew that football was a vehicle for him to help kids grow into successful men.
Kirby’s vision of service is not limited to Maysville. He has been an active missionary, serving in Africa. He has been part of water purification efforts, building projects and pastor training. Kirby has an extraordinary heart for serving others, where ever he sees a need.
Just a few weeks ago, I invited Kirby to speak to my Mercer County football team. I only put people in front of my team that have my utmost respect and genuine trust. Kirby is most certainly in that category. It was a blessing to have him with our kids. Once again, Kirby was willing to do whatever was necessary to help others.
I miss coaching with Kirby. That was a great time and very much a blessing. As a City Commissioner, Kirby’s character and servant’s heart will make Maysville stronger and better. Please vote for Kirby Bennett on Tuesday, November 6th!
Sincerely,
David Buchanan
Old Royals Football Coach
