I think last week proved to everyone that even though this defense is historically terrible, Cincinnati wouldn’t be 3-8 right now if Burrow was playing. They’d at least have 5 wins, if not 6. However, this isn’t the dig on Joe Flacco that you think it is. It’s a comment about Cincinnati needing to come to the realization that Joe Burrow simply cannot stay healthy. I hate to say it, but it’s time to move on. I know, that is a sin in this region, but it’s time. I want the Bengals to be good again and I think the winning formula is a mediocre quarterback and money spent elsewhere. It’s the only way this organization ever finds any success. Look back at Burrow, Dalton, and Palmer when they were on rookie contracts. Someone would gladly take Burrow and it’s time we come to the realization that it’s best for both parties to part ways (He is my favorite quarterback in history by the way).
If Cincinnati is not going to go this route (they won’t), expect this same result time and time again until Tobin learns to draft or is fired. Cincinnati can’t draft and they can’t develop players. They’ve taken John Ross over Patrick Mahomes. They’ve drafted Shemar Stewart, Myles Murphy, Joseph Ossai, Kris Jenkins, McKinnley Jackson, DJ Ivey, Dax Hill, Cam Taylor-Britt, Tycen Anderson… The list goes on and on. It’s abysmal.
Burrow Returns, Ja’Marr Returns, Higgins Out
A story we have heard over and over again, not to mention Trey. Our expensive players are never on the field at the same time. Injury after injury and Cincinnati ignores the potential factors, pays them anyway, and we watch hall of fame careers float on by. I’m tired of it and so tired of losing. Why even bring Burrow back? For what? Another injury?
Thanksgiving
Let’s get a little bit of positivity going… What Thanksgiving dish do you look forward to the most to munch on while the Bengals get our hopes up… and lose? Broccoli casserole and a side of a last-minute loss sounds delicious for Thursday. I may even chow down on some of my mother’s best – stuffing — as I watch Dax Hill get picked on for an entire game and have another embarrassing effort.
I know this is a negative article, but man, this is getting old. Just let us enjoy Thanksgiving. I’ll be watching and cheering on this team, but as star-studded as this team is, it is absolutely a gut-punch to watch this organization and Zac Taylor ruin what could’ve been special. If you’re playing football at your Thanksgiving, remind yourself that defense matters. I wish Cincinnati realized this. Show your nephew you still have it at age 31 and step in there and pull a hamstring. Show them what Thanksgiving is all about.
I recommend not watching the game – although I will be front and center watching this team with a little thought in the back of my head of “What if Joe Burrow runs the table?”
Note: I can’t wait for RedsFest, I desperately need a positive article if you cannot tell.
