Ace and Kita are friendly, gorgeous Husky mixes! Both are good with other dogs and children. They are well-behaved, affectionate, and enjoy cuddles. If you like to travel, either of them will be perfect, as they both enjoy car rides! Ace and Kita both know “sit” and Ace also gives his paw when asked. They may know even more commands.
Ace and Kita came from the same home. They had lived their lives tied up in their owner’s backyard. The owner’s priest convinced him to surrender them to the shelter. They deserve fur-ever homes where they are treated like family. They do not need to be adopted together. If you can provide a fur-ever, loving home, apply to adopt Ace or Kita now!
Rabies vaccination is crucial to keeping your dogs and cats safe. According to the American Veterinary Association, if your pet contracts Rabies, there is no treatment to save their lives. In Kentucky, bats are the most prominent carrier of the Rabies virus, and it has also been seen in skunks and foxes. Rabies vaccination is the only way to prevent the disease in your pets.
Rabies control is provided by law in Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 258.005-258.990 and under the state Communicable Disease Regulation 902KAR 2:070. The most recent human death from Rabies in Kentucky was in December 2024. Rabies is always lethal in humans if they do not seek post-exposure treatment. For this reason, all animal bites and other injuries to humans caused by animals must be reported to your local health department within 12 hours to ensure the injured individual receives treatment and the animal is properly quarantined.
Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 258.015 requires that all dogs, cats, and ferrets in the state of Kentucky be vaccinated against Rabies at the age of 4 months and at the expiration of each vaccination (annually or every 3 years, depending on the vaccine given). The Rabies vaccination must be given by a veterinarian or veterinary technician under the supervision of a veterinarian.
KRS 258.085 states that any pet that has bitten a human must be quarantined for 10 days. The animal’s owner can quarantine the pet if they can do so safely. The pet’s owner is responsible for all expenses, including boarding for the quarantine period (if they cannot do so at home), the victim’s medical care, and testing. To avoid those costs and keep your pets safe and healthy, be sure to keep their Rabies vaccination current. Talk with your veterinarian about all vaccines your pets may require.
