Mason County High School graduates and Transylvania Uni-versity juniors Anthony Bisotti and Korey McMurtrey have been inducted into the Lampas Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa.
Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society, was founded in 1914 at Washington and Lee in Lexing-ton, Va., by 15 students and faculty members. In the tradition of the idealism and leadership of George Washington and Robert E. Lee, the founders of ODK, formulated the idea that leadership of exceptional quality and versatility in college should be recognized.
Bisotti serves the campus as a resident assistant and is a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and a Bible study leader.
“I feel extremely honored and it was a big surprise to be accepted into ODK,” said McMurtrey. “I believe that through my leadership and example, I can inspire others to think beyond themselves.”
McMurtrey is a member of the judicial board, Transylvania choir, student government associate and serves as a student orientation leader and as the service chair for Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.
Bisotti, a biology major, is the son of John and Kathy Bisotti of May’s Lick.
McMurtrey, a sociology major, is the son of David and Phyllis McMurtrey of Maysville.
Students apply for ODK membership in their junior or senior year. Selection is based on academic ranking, extracurricular activities and leadership roles. New members are selected by current ODK members, and must pass with a 75 percent approval rating.
