EWING — The Kentucky Open Road Racing Series is preparing for the third bike race in its annual series.

The two-day event will take place on June 14 and 15.

“The Kentucky Open Racing Series, as part of USA Cycling, will host the third race of their annual series, a two-day event featuring a 52-mile road Race on Saturday and a 12-mile individual Time Trial on Sunday, June 14th and 15th,” said Race Director Gary Bentley.

The race is set to start and end at Turtleback Ridge Brewery, which is located at 6769 Pleasant Rd. in Ewing.

“The race will be a 26 mile loop taking cyclists up HWY 165 towards Mount Olivet onto Bee Lick Road and then up Mount Pleasant road to Robertson County School, they will then take 62 into Sardis, taking 1029 by the Robertson County Covered bridge before climbing up 1029 and 2505 to the finish,” said Bentley.

Once the race is over, an award ceremony with food trucks and after-race celebrations will take place in the taproom at Turtleback Ridge.

The event will have awards available for the top three participants per category. Categories are as follows; Men P/1/2/3, Women P/1/2/3/4, Men 3/4, Women 4/5, Men 4/5, Masters 50 plus, Non-Binary, Womens 3/4, U23, JuniorsU18, Men’s P/1/2/3/4/5 Time Trial W omen’s P/1/2/3/4/5/ Time Trial, Masters 50 plus Time Trial, U18 Time Trial, and Non Binary Time Trial.

The online registration deadline is Tuesday, June 10, at 5 p.m.

“The road will be closed to through traffic during the Saturday event for scoring and safety of the riders as they start and end their race. The road is closed from the entrance of Turtleback Ridge to the 1029/2505 intersection. All other traffic should use 68 to 165 to get to Mount Olivet,” stated Bentley.
