The Showboat Majestic will be holding its first open-to-the-public event on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.

The Showboat Majestic was built in 1923 in Pittsburgh as one of the last floating theaters in the United States. It has since had a long and lucrative life, journeying many innumerable miles along the waterways and resurrecting under the ownership of Joe and Cortnee Brumley.

The Brumleys acquired The Majestic in early February, and have since poured an ample amount of time and effort into it with the help of Mike and Mable Martin, making it possible to now show such an event, appropriately titled “The Majestic Christmas.”

It will be showcasing the musical talents of the West Union Steel Drum Band, Dakota Nehus and “Life on the Edge,” as well as a children’s production “One Toy For Christmas,” sponsored by the Adams County Arts Council.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $7 for students, and can be acquired through Bonnie Hanover of Mosier Furniture at 937-544-2711.

”This will be one of many shows for the upcoming year,” said Cortnee Brumley, “and we are still seeking sponsorship. We have formed a 501(c) non-profit board and currently have nine members.”
