VANCEBURG — A sketch of a person of interest in a homicide case has been released by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, released a sketch of a person a witness told police had been seen in the area where Lowell Skidmore’s body was found on June 5.

According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Skidmore, 75, a resident of McDowell Creek Road in Garrison, was discovered unresponsive on his kitchen floor June 5, by a relative who had stopped to visit. Finding glass shattered in the front door, the relative called 911 at about 2:13 p.m., police said.

The Lewis County Coroner determined Skidmore was shot multiple times and Skidmore’s body was sent for an autopsy at the Fort Thomas Medical Examiner’s office.

Because any medications in the home were accounted for and nothing appeared to be missing from the home, police theorize Skidmore was the victim of a homicide.

While the weapons were in the home, they were not near the body and Bivens said it did not appear any of the weapons were involved in the crime.

Skidmore appeared to have been a specific target, police said.
