GEORGETOWN, Ohio | The reward has been increased and the search continues for information leading to the arrest of whoever shot and killed a Brown County mother and injured her toddler daughter.
On Aug. 28, Brittany Stykes was driving on U.S. 68 between Georgetown and Ripley, Ohio, when shots were fired at her yellow Jeep Wrangler.
Brittany died at the scene and her daughter has had to endure repeated surgeries and treatment for a bullet wound to her head. The toddler is currently with her family, following emergency surgery last week.
According to Brown County Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger, the family of Brittany Dodson-Stykes has set up a community reward fund which includes funding from businesses and individuals. It is now at $5,000 and growing, Wenninger said.
That in addition to the $5,000 offered by the Crimestoppers organization bring the reward to $10,000, he said.
The CRF is being handled by family members Bill and Brenda Pack and will be paid for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Stykes, he said.
Her vehicle was found off U.S. 68, south of Georgetown, at 8:05 p.m., Aug. 28, between Ohio 125 and Laycock Road.
Recent investigation interviews have eliminated her husband Shane Stykes and another man as suspects and have accumulated information from drivers who were in the area the night Stykes was killed, police said.
“We have some helpful information; anything the public can provide is great ,” said BCSO Det. Rick Haney.
Packs may be contacted by phone at Bill Pack 513-266-0745 or Brenda Pack at 513-266-3264.
