The Maysville Woman’s Club held its Jan. 21 meeting at deSha’s restaurant with manager, Randy Cooper as the guest speaker.
President Nowanna Flannery led the members in reciting the club’s “Collect,” and prayer was offered by Charlene Duncan. The president welcomed 11 members and one guest, JoAnn Bellanca.
The secretary’s report and roll call were given by Pat Steimle, and Joyce Weigott gave the treasurer’s report. A monetary gift was given to the community food bank.
The theme for Mr. Cooper’s presentation was “Salad dressings.” He told members that common household ingredients can be used in preparing salad dressings. To prove his point, Mr. Cooper used white wine, honey, the juices from an orange, lemon and lime, white pepper, basil, oregano, parsley, chives and salt. Club members were served a dinner salad with the dressing he made as part of their lunch. Mr. Cooper also told members they could go on-line to recipes.com.
Cooper also told the history of deSha’s, how it began as a soup and sandwich restaurant and how it has expanded. A question and answer session followed his presentation.
The next meeting is scheduled for noon, March 21 at the Maysville Country Club. Maysville Mayor David Cartmell will be the guest speaker. New members and guests are always welcome.
