An Ohio woman was airlifted to a Cincinnati hospital early Wednesday following a predawn collision on Kentucky 9 AA Highway, according to Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs.

Sabrina Whitmer of Amelia, driving a 1985 Cadillac was westbound on Kentucky 435, approaching the intersection of Kentucky 9, when she turned right onto Kentucky 9 and into the middle of a trailer being pulled by 2015 Volvo tractor, northbound on the highway, Boggs said. Timothy Swanger of May’s Lick was identified as the driver of the tractor-trailer.

Neither vehicle has other passengers, Boggs said.

Whitmer was airlifted from the scene to the University of Cincinnati Hospital. There was no information on her condition late Wednesday.

Swanger was not injured in the accident, Boggs said.

The accident remains under investigation by Deputy John Ferguson. He was assisted at the scene by Maysville EMS and Germantown and Fernleaf Volunteer Fire Departments.
