Domestic shooting ends in death of Adams County woman

SEAMAN, Ohio — A woman is dead following an early morning shooting Friday in Adams County.

A suspect has already been arrested in connection with an alleged homicide in the Seaman, area with the investigation continuing throughout the day.

An Adams County sheriff’s officer announced late Friday that Daniel L. Glenn, 59, has been arrested and is in Adams County Jail awaiting arraignment.

Authorities were called to an unknown medical emergency at a trailer home at 750 Smart Road, in northern Adams County shortly before 2 a.m., Friday. A male caller, later identified as Glenn, stated to 911 dispatch he needed an ambulance, but would not tell the dispatcher what the problem was. With safety a concern, ACSO deputies were dispatched to the scene, as well as a Seaman LifeSquad unit, police said.

When emergency personnel arrived, a woman was found outside the residence, while Glenn remained inside the residence for a short time. When he emerged, Glenn was taken into custody by ACSO.

Once the scene was declared to be safe, EMS workers were allowed near the victim who was determined to be dead from a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as Wanetta Wells, 53, who had allegedly been shot by Glenn, was released at 6:20 p.m., after her relatives in Warren County were notified of her death, an ACSO spokesperson said.

Wells was allegedly the girlfriend of Glenn and lived at the Smart Road address with him, police said.

A motive for the shooting was not revealed by officials.

The incident remains under investigation, ACSO officials said.
