ABERDEEN, Ohio | Aberdeen police recently made two arrests for solicitation of prostitution.

According to APD, following an investigation of complaints of alleged prostitution activity, Troy Abercrombie, of Maysville, formerly of Blue Creek, Ohio, and Robert Hamm of May’s Lick were arrested in separate incidents.

The arrests followed investigations that have been under way for months, police said.

On Dec. 30, 2013, Abercrombie was arrested when he allegedly met a female in the village with the intention to pay for sex, police said.

On Jan. 24, Abercrombie pled guilty in Brown County Municipal Court to a charge of soliciting prostitution. He was sentenced to one year of probation and 40 hours of community service.

On Jan. 2, Hamm was arrested after allegedly coming to Aberdeen to meet a female to pay for sex, when he was detained, police said.

Following an interview on Jan 8, Hamm was charged with solicitation prostitution.

The case has been sent to the Brown County Prosecutors office for consideration.

Hamm is scheduled to appear in Brown County Municipal Court on Feb. 3.

Officials are also seeking to ban anyone convicted of the crimes from entering or being on the property of establishments where the crimes were committed, said APD Chief Greg Caudill.

Because the Aberdeen crimes were allegedly committed in vehicles, the vehicles were impounded and their fate is still in the hands of the court, police said.

According to court documents Abercrombie may get his truck back with proof of insurance, and payment of towing and storage costs.
