AUGUSTA — Ronald Lee McCane, 80, died on Friday, June 14. 2019 due to a tractor accident on his farm in Gertrude.

He was born on April 27, 1939, to the late William and Elizabeth McCane.

He served for the U.S. Army Reserve Unit and was a retired truck driver for Aberdeen Express, a member of Teamsters Local 100 and plant director for Bracken County Nursing and Rehab Center. He was also an Honorable Kentucky Colonel. He loved working on lawn mowers and had an extensive collection of antique tractors, motors and farm equipment. He was a director for the Mason County Antique Machinery Show Inc. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and former member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores Beyersdoerfer McCane, whom he married June 6, 1959; three children, Phillip McCane of Foster, Sheila (David) Moon of Gertrude and Chuck (Jennifer) McCane of Gertrude. He was a proud grandfather to Joe (Emily) Tackett of Powder Springs, Ga., Chevelle (Tim) Bedra of Flat Rock, Mich., Kaitlyn (Roger) Pence of Lexington, Brianna (Scott) Findley of Madison, Maine, and Robert McCane of Gertrude. He was a great-grandfather of Cooper and Madison Bedra, Avery and Adelyn Tackett, Amberlei Sharpe and Benjamin Findley.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy McCane.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 1 p.m., at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home in Augusta.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Gertrude.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Mount Zion Cemetery Fund.
