FLEMINGSBURG — A contract to repair the roof of Fleming County High School was approved by the Fleming County Board of Education on Tuesday.
According to Superintendent Brian Creasman, the repairs became necessary because of damage to the roof caused by hail.
The contract states that the repairs will be conducted by Insulated Roofing Contractors, a company from New Albany Ind., with a price tag of $214,777.
According to the BG-1 document, which outlines the project details, the board has allocated the cost to come from the general fund, with an additional $10,738.85 to be added for any other contingencies — totaling $225,000 in cost.
“It’ll cost $250,000 but we’ll pay a 10 percent deductible on it, so it’ll be like $25,000 and the rest will be covered by insurance.” Finance Director Andy Plank said during the meeting.
Plank also said at the meeting that the project will repair about 75 percent of the high school’s roof which had been damaged.
The board also approved staffing allocations for 2019-2020 at each school, which are based on the number of students in attendance:
— Ewing Elementary, one principal, one media librarian, 7.3 teachers for grades 1-3, 1.6 teachers for fourth grade, 1.4 teachers for fifth grade, 1.3 teachers for sixth grade and 1.7 teachers for kindergarten.
