Carl Overly Jr. hails from Maysville, and is a professional actor/director who has worked with numerous theater companies including The Black Rep, Metro Theater Company and Shakespeare Festival St. Louis.
Overly has also worked with SATE, Theatre Nuevo, Mustard Seed Theatre, ERA, Upstream Theatre, West End Players Guild, St. Louis Shakespeare, Magic Smoking Monkey, YoungLiars and Solid Lines Productions.
Overly recently made his directorial debut with RS Theatrics production of “The Mother****** with the Hat.”
He is also a teaching artist with Prison Performing Arts.
Overly is a recepient of Theatre Communications Group Rising Leaders of Color and is a three-time St. Louis Theater Circle award winner. He served as an intern for the Black Rep (2005-2007) and also served three years with Girls Inc of St Louis as their drama teacher.
Overly was recently stage manager for “Four Little Girls” at Coca and can currently be seen in Metro Theater Production of “Ghost” and will be assistant directing “We are the Levisons” at The New Jewish Theater.
Overly is the son of Carl abd Beverly Overly, and grandson of Hilda Hors. He is a 2000 graduate of Mason County High School and 2005 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in theater arts.
