How can we almost be to March already. 2020 is flying by!

MaysvilleOpoly Update – the Maysville-Mason County Area Chamber of Commerce has ordered 500 more games. We are taking pre-orders, still $30, and encourage you to order and pre-pay, cash or check. Stop by the Chamber office or mail a check, 201 E. Third Street. We are looking at a late April delivery. I, once again, want to say thank you for making this such a popular project for us, and a great way to preserve the history of our local businesses.

We have record attendance for our sixth annual 21st Century Leadership Conference, Dare to Lead, with Leah Brown. Leadership is such an important concept in not only the business world, but in our everyday lives. Thank you to all who are registered for our February 28th Event.

We get to celebrate our extra day this year with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Pandamoneum at the Brewery, Feb. 29, 11:30 a.m., inside Maysville Brewing Company, 8 W. Second Street. They will offer great food options such as snacks, cCheesesteaks and bone-in wings. Plan to join us!

Then, March moves in quickly with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Gordman’s (former Goody’s location next to Wal-Mart). All are invited to attend on March 3, at 9 a.m., there are prizes for the first 100 guests.

March 5 brings our Hemp 101 Membership Luncheon at 11:30 a.m., at the Maysville Country Club. Join us to hear Tom Keene, UK Agronomy Specialist – Hemp Extension and Research, as he discusses the basics of growing Hemp and shares the progress of the crop through the last few years. Cost is $15 to attend. Please reserve your seat by Feb. 28 by calling 606-564-5534 or email [email protected].

Farm and Family Night is March 10 at MCTC. The Chamber has tickets for the free meal. Please take advantage of this great resource for farmers and their family members, whether it is your full-time occupation, or you have a vegetable garden in your backyard.

Our April membership breakfast will be unique, it falls on the 10th which is Good Friday. We thought it would be a great time to highlight some of the Community Programs offered by our local churches. It will be a 7:45 a.m., meeting at the Mason County Extension office, a continental breakfast will be served, cost is $5.

I’ve been with the Chamber for over 16 years and, if you haven’t heard, will be retiring at the end of June. I realized I have a lot of “Thank yous” to say and better get started. So, thank you to a community that welcomed my family when we moved here and made them feel a part. My kid’s time in Mason County Schools was a great experience!
