The Music Department of Mason County Schools will present the annual Holiday Benefit Gala, Maysville’s traditional Holiday show, with performances on Thursday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

The holiday programs, sponsored by US Bank, will feature the Mason County Concert Choir and Orchestra under the direction of Charlie Hunter.

The theme for the 2019 Holiday Gala program is “Music of the Season,” celebrating both classical and holiday music selections presented in two acts with the Gala Reception during intermission. The benefit programs will be held in the downtown High School Auditorium, E. Second Street, Maysville. The auditorium box office will be open one hour prior to the show to purchase tickets for the holiday concert and reception.

The Concert Choir will present selections from Disney’s Candlelight Processional. The Concert Choir will be singing, Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus,” and “O Holy Night.” The Orchestral highlights will include: Trans-Siberian’s “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo,” “In Bleak Midwinter” and “Winter Wonderland.” The orchestral selections will feature string students from both Mason County Middle School and Mason County High School.

Kortney Mills will accompany the Mason County Orchestra with Tamara Conrad serving as the accompanist for the Mason County Concert Choir’s choral selections. The featured soloists for the gala program will be Connor Brown, Jacob Brown and Sydney Lilley. Orchestra and Concert Choir students featured in the MTI musical, “Newsies” will be featured in the Gala narrations and holiday vocal selections during the Gala show. The spring musical will be presented April 17, 18, 19, at the Downtown High School Auditorium.

Ranger Steel is the sponsor for the 2019-2020 concert series of programs by the Concert Choir and Orchestra celebrating 60 years of music at Mason County High School. The benefit program is presented in part by the annual support of U.S. Bank. The benefit concert and holiday reception benefit ticket price is $15.
