The 165th Old Reliable has a jam-packed Saturday, Aug. 3 all lined up for you.

The day begins with a District Swine Show at 10 a.m. While the swine are being judged, the grillers will be smoking beef brisket, chicken, pork ribs, and pork shoulder or Boston butt for the first annual Germantown Fair Barbeque Cook-Off Competition. The grillers will be serving up lots of good food all day long. Meats will be judged beginning at 3:00 p.m. Rules and applications are on our website (www.germantownfair.com) or can be requested by emailing ([email protected]). Each category champion will receive $75; reserve champion $50; grand champion $500; reserve $300. We have a few spaces available; however, we ask that you get in touch with us via the website or by calling 606-564-0478 to enter. Deadline for entering is Monday, July 22.

At 5 p.m., Tumbleweed will be on hand to offer on tap Budweiser, Bud Light and Michelob Ultra. You must present an ID to receive a wristband. Sales will continue throughout the evening.

The Germantown Fair Horse Show will begin at 6 p.m. with five Academy classes to start the show. Twenty-seven classes will follow with two mule classes for the first time, one is an open mule pleasure class and the other a mule race. The remaining classes will be for saddlebred, roadster and pleasure horses. The carnival will not be set-up at this time.

The fourth annual Howie Howe Memorial Tractor Pull begins at 7 p.m. with five classes: 5,000 Non-Turbo Farm Stock, 5,500 Non-Turbo Farm Stock, 6,500 2-3-4 Cyl. Non-Turbo, 9,000 Pure Farm – 9,500 Altered Farm and 10,500 Open – 12,500 Open.

Following the horse show (at approximately 9:30 p.m.) Inside Out Band will be performing in the Cooke Pavilion. All this for a $5 admission charge.
