Recent release “Enchanting Beauties” from former Mason County resident Hannah R. Horch is a riveting southern classic set in Depression-era Tennessee.

The daughter of a savvy businessman and a cotton heiress, Henryetta Dixon believes her family is untouchable—that is, until her father uncharacteristically commits suicide, leaving them penniless.

To keep food on the table, Henryetta pawns her family’s possessions one by one, but in doing so, she uncovers the scandalous truth about her father’s secret business dealings—ones that if discovered have the power to destroy the Dixons. Times grow desperate as the Great Depression lingers, forcing Henryetta to do the unthinkable. Posing as her father in order to rekindle his business proves to be lucrative, but when her arch nemesis catches her, things go very wrong.

Inspired by the true stories and photographs of real men, women, and children of the Great Depression, “Enchanting Beauties” is a powerful story of grace and redemption. Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, readers can purchase “Enchanting Beauties” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.

Horch has loved writing and photography her entire life. As a young person, she was an award-winning journalist at Mason County High and Morehead State University. She has used her writing talents throughout her career as an educator.

In 2018, she self-published a cookbook “Legacy: A Collection of Recipes” for her family and friends. Many are heirloom recipes from her grandmother and other local Maysville residents. “Enchanting Beauties” is Ms. Horch’s debut novel.

Most recently, it was featured at the Combined Book Exhibit at the Book Expo in New York City. “Enchanting Beauties” was one of twenty new books selected by Book Vine Press to be spotlighted the Manila International Asian Book Exhibit in September.

Horch currently serves as the founding program advisor of the Newcomer International Center in Memphis, Tenn. She is married to Jesus F. Patino and has two children. She is the daughter of Bob and Nancy Horch of Maysville. You can follow Hannah on Facebook and Instagram.

Horch will sign autographs at the Mason County Public Library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.
