Have you heard about making Maysville the first Green Dot City in the nation? That’s what many businesses and organizations in town are focusing on.

The Green Dot strategy is based on the belief that the greatest power is in the bystander – each one of us. Through our choices, we can define the norms and ultimately decide what we will accept and not accept in our community. With everyone doing their part, we are able to measurably reduce violence. We invite you to join us at the Chamber’s Oct. 12 membership luncheon at Caproni’s beginning at 11:30 a.m., to learn how you, your place of business or organization can be involved. Cost is $16 per person if you reserve your seat by Oct. 5 from the event on our Facebook page.

All are invited to attend the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Grand Opening Celebration for the Old Pogue Experience on Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. The new exhibit for the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center is located on the corner of Sutton and Second Streets and will highlight the history of bourbon throughout Maysville and the region.

The calendar may say that it is autumn, but from the signs that have been put up and the commercials in the media, we know that it is Election Season. The Maysville-Mason County Area Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with The Ledger Independent and WFTM will hold a Candidate Forum for local candidates on Oct. 16. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. in the Fields Auditorium at MCTC. All are invited to attend to hear those candidates whose offices are contested. The public is invited to submit questions to the Chamber office by emailing them to [email protected] by Oct. 12.

Chamber members – reserve Nov. 1 for our annual Membership Celebration at the Maysville Events Center. The food and festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m., as we “Get Out the Vote”!
