FLEMINGSBURG — A Flemingsburg man was arrested Saturday and charged in connection with a drug overdose death, according to information from the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office.
Michael Ryan Hinton, 40, is charged with second-degree manslaughter along with several drug-related charges including first-degree first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance methamphetamine. first offense trafficking in a controlled substance heroin, importing heroin, buy or possess drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
The overdose death allegedly happened a few weeks ago, officials said. The victim’s name was not revealed.
Hinton is being held in the Mason County Detention Center without bond. No court date was available Sunday.
Arrested at the same time as Hinton was Shaniah Ihli, 21, also of Flemingsburg. She also faces a variety of drug charges including first-degree first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance methamphetamine, first offense trafficking in a controlled substance heroin, importing heroin and possession of marijuana.
Sheriff Gary Kinder said his department seized approximately 12 grams of heroin, along with methamphetamine, marijuana, cash, and other drug paraphernalia at the time of the arrests.
Ihli is also lodged at MCDC. No bond has been set and no court date was available Sunday.
Both Hinton and Ihli are expected to appear in Fleming District Court this week for arraignment on the charges.
Officers who made the arrest include Deputy Justin Conley and Deputy Parker, along with Kinder.
