There are now 39 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Mason County.

According to the Buffalo Trace District Health Department, of those cases 13 are active and 26 are recovered.

Health Department officials warned against large gatherings in order to lessen the chances of a cluster.

“Clusters of people become infected with COVID-19 quickly at parties, family gatherings, events, bars, funerals and weddings. In some clusters, multiple fatalities can occur. Don’t wait until this happens to you. Be the change and practice prevention.”

Officials offered several tips to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Those tips include:

— Stay home if you’re ill.

— Avoid large crowds and gatherings.

— Wash hands and surfaces frequently.

— Wear a face covering in public.

— Monitor your symptoms and remember to seek medical attention if needed.
