Maysville Police have been busy this week, arresting several people on drug charges, according to information from Police Chief Ron Rice.

The arrests, the chief said, resulted from investigations and from tips given to the department.

Many of the charges were related to methamphetamine, Rice said.

On Monday, Ryan T. Butts, 33, of Maysville, was arrested for first-degree possession of a controlled substance, believed to be methamphetamine, Rice said. Butts was passed out in his vehicle when he was arrested by Officer Eric Poynter, according to Rice.

Butts is currently lodged in the Mason County Detention Center with a $25,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in Mason District Court on

On Tuesday, Officers Justin Merrill, Garrett Ingram and Michael Parsons, arrested Christina Lykins, 35, Michael F. Stanton, 39, and Franklin Chamberlain, 47, all of Maysville, on possession of methamphetamine and other charges, including first-degree wanton endangerment. Personnel from Child Protective Services assisted at the scene of the arrests, Rice said.

Lykins was released from MCDC on $2,500 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 12.

Stanton is being held on a $25,000 surety bond and has a Dec. 12 court date.

Chamberlain is being held at MCDC on a $2,500 cash bond and will also appear in court Dec. 12.

On Wednesday, Ingram and MPD Canine Officer Justin Cooley, acting on an anonymous tip, arrested Archie Cunningham, 26, Tiffany Burden, 34, and Mason L. Adkins, 45, all of Maysville, on charges of possession of methamphetamine and other drug-related charges, according to Rice. Cunningham was also charged with providing false information to police while Mary Kirkland, also present at the scene, was arrested on an outstanding Mason County warrant,. The officers were assisted at the scene by Deputy John Ferguson.

Cunningham is being held on a $2,500 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 10.

Burden is being held on a $2,500 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 10.

Adkins is set to appear in court on Dec. 10 and is currently being held at MCDC on Dec. 10.

Also on Wednesday, Sgt, Paul Mellenkamp, Sgt. Eric Hylander and Cooley arrested Cindy E. Cottey, 35, of Maysville, for possession of methamphetamine, tampering with physical evidence, drug paraphernalia and alcohol-related charges as well as an outstanding Mason County warrant.

Cottey is being held on a combined $7,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court both Dec. 10 and Dec. 12.

Rice said the public’s help is much appreciated in tackling drug issues.

“Officers are encouraged and thankful that residents are providing information and ask anyone with information on illegal activity to notify police at 606-564-9411 or through social media,” Rice said.
