A 67-year-old man was arrested last week on drug-related charges by Mason County Sheriff’s deputies.
According to Sheriff Patrick Boggs, Deputy Devin Hull was investigating several tips the department received concerning alleged drug activity at a residence at 6490 Helena Road. There was also information that individuals who were named in outstanding warrants were at the residence, he said.
Responding to the location, deputies made an arrest and, based on information gathered during the arrest, a search warrant was obtained, Boggs said. During a search of the property, the sheriff said measurable amounts of heroin and marijuana were found along with 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $2,000. Cash and proceeds from alleged drug sales were also seized during the arrest, Boggs said.
Deputies also found prescription medications that were not in the proper containers, during the search, Boggs said.
Calvin Hunt, 67, was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance methamphetamine first offense, trafficking in a controlled substance heroin first office, buy or possess drug paraphernalia, trafficking in marijuana first offense and prescription controlled substance not in proper container first offense.
Hunt was lodged in the Mason County Detention Center and later released on a $5,000 cash bond.
Also arrested at the scene was Tyler Hardin, 26, of Maysville, on a charge of theft by unlawful taking. He is being held on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in district court on Oct. 3.
The incident remains under investigation by Hull.
