MOREHEAD — One man was killed and two people injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday in Fleming County.

Armando Fonseca, 21, of Maysville, driving a 1984 Chevy Caprice, was southbound on Kentucky 11 near the Fleming County/Mason County line when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center line of the high, according to information from Kentucky State Police Post 8, Morehead.

Fonseca’s car entered the northbound lane of the highway where it was struck by an oncoming vehicle operated by Velvet Reed of Hillsboro, police said.

Fonseca was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Fleming County Coroner Winston Grannis.

Reed and a passenger in her vehicle, Eugene Gallagher, both suffered non-life threatening injuries in the collision, police said. The pair were transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington for treatment of their injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by KSP Post 8.
