FPD investigating theft from dealership

FLEMINGSBURG — Flemingsburg Police Department are seeking assistance in identifying who took money from a car dealership on Sept. 5.

According to Police Chief Brian Bowling, the money was taken from Cheap’s Chevrolet.

”We are working through the different leads. We encourage everyone who has a potential lead to give myself or the KSP a call with the information, and we will do a follow up investigation on the information received,” Bowling said.

According to information from Bowling, on Wednesday, Aug. 29, employees with Cheap’s Chevrolet remained after hours to complete the sale of two vehicles and prepare for the next business day. A money box had been removed from the dealership and placed in a vehicle to be moved to a secure location overnight. Before the operator of the vehicle left for the evening, thieves gained entry into the vehicle and took the money box.

Investigators with the FPD and the Kentucky State Police are not disclosing the amount of money taken nor the method used to gain entry into the automobile because of the on-going investigation.

Cheap’s Chevrolet is offering a $5,000.00 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the responsible parties.
