Pet rescue organizations and local humane groups are being invited to a pet adoption event set for later this month.

The adoption day is scheduled for Saturday, Aug, 25, beginning at 9 a.m., at the Maysville Tractor Supply in Market Square, according to Tammy Gallagher with the Maysville Tractor Supply Company.

“We’d really like to get any rescue that is interested to take part,” Gallagher said. Currently, the Brown County Humane Society will be on hand to offer up adoptable pets.

The store is dedicating the entire month of August to showing its appreciation for animals, Gallagher said, through its Out Here With Animals promotion.

In addition to the adoption event, Out Here With Animals, which began earlier this week includes a month-long pet supplies drive.

Customers are invited to show their support for the Maysville animal shelter community by dropping off new sealed food, toys, cleaning supplies and other essential pet accessories such as beds, scratching posts, leashes and bowls to be donated to local rescues and shelters, Gallagher said.

Local animal organizations interested in participating in the pet adoption event can sign up online at or by contacting the Maysville Tractor Supply at 606-759-8500. Registration closes Wednesday, Aug. 22. Supplies donated at the store wil lbe divided among the participating organizations, Gallagher said.

The store also sponsors an immunization clinic each month where pet owners can get three-year rabies shots and other vaccines for their animals, along with deworming and microchipping at reduced costs, she said.

“Out Here With Animals allows the Maysville community to come together to celebrate their pets while supporting the great work of their local animal organizations,” said Mary Lawley, vice president of store administration at Tractor Supply Company. “Whether you have a dog, cat, horse, pig or goat, we hope families will bring their leashed, friendly pets to the store to show how special their animals are and help us find homes for the local adoptable animals that deserve a family too.”

Tractor Supply is also shining a spotlight on animal organizations through the return of its popular Rescue Your Rescue contest. The retailer will donate a total of $25,000 in grants to ten animal nonprofits that deserve a boost. Customers are encouraged to nominate their favorite shelters Friday, Aug. 3 through Wednesday, Aug. 8 at
