PAID program keeps streets, roads safer

MPD -

Maysville Police, the city and a local cab company are teaming up once again to keep impaired drivers off the road for the Memorial Day holiday.

On May 28, 2018, Geno’s Taxi, the City of Maysville, and the Maysville Police Department will join forces to provide free cab rides home to intoxicated individuals, according to MPD Lt. Jeremy Poe.

Each person is allowed only one ride a night anywhere in the Maysville/Mason County area, Poe said. To utilize the program, available from 9 p.m. until 1:30 a.m., those needing a ride should call Geno’s Taxi direct at 564-8911.

“To this date, hundreds of intoxicated drivers have been kept off the roadway and in turn is keeping our streets and highways safer for our citizens,” Poe said.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the PAID program can contact Poe at 606-564-9411.
