The second installment of our All-Area teams takes us to the soccer field to recognize kids from the area that stood out during the 2019 season.
When it comes to scoring goals, Peebles’ Weston Browning and Fleming County’s Haylee Applegate were the two who stood out. Browning scored 34 goals for the Indians, added 13 assists and was named the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Applegate found the back of the net 43 times and recorded seven assists, helping lead the Lady Panthers to their first ever 16th Region tournament win. Applegate’s 43 goals were tied for the 12th most in the state this season and tops in the area.
Those two stood out and highlight our All-Area team.

Cesar Briseno, St. Patrick — Scored 11 goals with 15 assists.
Arturo Lopez, St. Patrick — Led the Saints with 13 goals and also helped defensively.
Marvin Koch, St. Patrick — Scored 11 goals with 12 assists.
Caleb Poczatek, St. Patrick — Recorded 229 saves in 20 games, four clean sheets.
Nicholas Thomas, Mason County — Scored a team-high 14 goals with seven assists.
Dylan Mitchell, Mason County — Key defender for the Royals. Named to 10th Region All-Tournament team.
Jansen Biddle, Mason County — Scored four goals and tied for a team-high seven assists.
Jordan Dials, Fleming County — Scored four goals with five assists. Named to all-61st District team and 16th Region All-Tournament team.
Tyler Jamison, Fleming County — Recorded 261 saves with five shutouts. Made the All-61st District team.
Alberto Sanchez, Fleming County — Scored three goals with two assists as one of the key primary defenders for the Panthers.
Colt Parker, West Union — Recorded 288 saves and owns the school record with 643 career saves. Three time All-SHAC and First Team All-District selection.
Weston Browning, Peebles — Scored 34 goals with 13 assists. Selected as SHAC Player of the Year and first team All-District.
Kyle Lightner, Peebles — Recorded 278 saves with six shutouts, allowed 31 goals on the season. Made the All-SHAC team and All-District second team.
Mason Sims, Peebles — Scored 18 goals with eight assists.
Cody Germann, Ripley — Key defender for the Blue Jays.
Joshua Galley, Georgetown — Led the G-Men with 24 goals and recorded eight assists. First team SBAAC National Division selection.
Mason Fleming, Georgetown — With no goalie entering the season, Fleming stepped up and took on the role for the G-Men.
Ryan Boone, Eastern — Made the All-SHAC team.
Wyatt Makstaller, Eastern — Made the All-SHAC team.
Andres Vargas, Eastern — Made the All-SHAC team.
Rachel Payne, Mason County — Led team with 13 goals and recorded four assists. Recorded 35 saves in goal with a 2.2 goals against average.
Emylee Brophy, Mason County — Scored eight goals with a team-high eight assists.
Haylee Applegate, Fleming County — Scored 43 goals with seven assists. Made the All-61st District team.
Mallory Donahue, Fleming County — Recorded 221 saves with nine shutouts. Made the 16th Region All-Tournament team.
Alexa Dials, Fleming County — Scored 10 goals with 15 assists. Made the All-61st District team.
Makayla Lewis-Burnett, Fleming County — Scored 21 goals with seven assists.
Allison Hughes, St. Patrick — Led team with 13 goals and three assists.
Olivia Poczatek, St. Patrick — Recorded 227 saves in 15 games.
Lilly Gray, Peebles — Scored 37 goals and had 15 assists.
Kierra Stone, Peebles — Scored 20 goals with 16 assists.
Hope Brown, Peebles — 132 saves and allowed just 33 goals.
Azyiah Williams, Ripley — All-SHAC team. Scored 29 goals with 15 assists.
Riley Finn, Ripley — Recorded a school record 186 saves and a 2.0 goals against average.
Kailey Fisher, Ripley — Sweeper and most reliable defender on the team.
Mackenzie Silvia, West Union — Made All-SHAC and first team All-District. Scored four goals in a sectional game, leading the Lady Dragons to their second tournament win in program history.
Hailey Gregory, Georgetown — SBAAC National Division Player of the Year. Scored six goals with seven assists. Made first team All-State and All-Southwest District team.
Torie Utter, Georgetown — Scored 17 goals with seven assists.
Mary Litzinger, Eastern — First team All-District, All-SHAC team and second on the Lady Warriors with 42 points.
Caitlyn Wills, Eastern — Selected to the All-Ohio Division III second team, All-SHAC team and first team All-District. top defender for the Lady Warriors who also recorded 23 points.
Rylee Leonard, Eastern — Second team All-District, recorded 51 points, tops for the Lady Warriors.
Peebles’ Weston Browning (32) scored 34 goals with 13 assists and was the SHAC Player of the Year in 2019.
Fleming County’s Haylee Applegate (10) scored 43 goals and had seven assists for Fleming County in 2019.
