The honors keep rolling in for a couple of area golfers.

Mason County’s Mason Butler and Lewis County’s Logan Liles were named to the 2018 Kentucky Golf Coach Association Boys’ All-Region Teams for their respective regions on Friday.

Butler was named to the Region 8 team after a stellar freshman season. He finished in the top 10 in six events throughout the season and finished in the top 40 in All-State points. He helped lead the Royals to two wins, two second place finishes, a third place finish and a fifth place finish in the team’s first six events of the season and later qualified for the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Championship after a three-hole playoff in the Region 8 Tournament at A.J. Jolly Golf Course.

Highlands’ Bert Richey was named the Region 8 Coach of the Year and Highlands’ Justin Gabbard was named the region’s Player of the Year. Joining Butler on the Region 8 team were Tyler and Ryan Mitts of Grant County, Luke Muller of Highlands, Zach Stacy of Bourbon County and Jerod Baynum of Bishop Brossart.

Liles also had a strong freshman season to earn a spot of the Region 12 team. He won two events and finished in the top 10 in five other events throughout the season. During the Region 12 Tournament at Hidden Cove in Grayson, Liles edged Rowan County’s Luke Burrows in a two-hole tiebreaker to earn a trip to the state tournament for the second straight year.

Morgan County’s Blake Evans was named the Region 12 Player of the Year and West Carter’s Chuck Clark was named the region’s Coach of the Year. Joining Liles on the Region 12 team was Burrows, Luke Fuller, Jon Kosier and Logan McCormick of Montgomery County, Hunter Goble of Lawrence County, Connor Calhoun and Jake Damron of Ashland Blazer, Gage Evans of Elliott County and Drew Stultz of Greenup County.

Taylor County’s Cooper Parks was named the 2018 KGCA Boys’ Player of the year and Taylor County’s Scott Parks was named the 2018 KGCA Coach of the Year. Parks finished tied for 10th at the state tournament, finishing with a 4-over 148 in the two-day event. Taylor County finished two strokes better than St. Xavier to win the state tournament.
