In the year of 1948 in Kansas City, the Louisville Cardinals won the National NAIB (now NAIA) basketball tourney when they defeated Indiana State.
What, you might ask what has this to do with Maysville?
Well the star in that game was the former Maysville Bulldog, Kenny Reeves who tallied 27 points in that championship game. Indiana State was coached by John Wooden, who was coaching his last game with the Sycamores as he was leaving for UCLA and starting the greatest dynasty college basketball would ever see.
Well, Kenny Reeves was a vital part of some neat college basketball history. For the rest of the iconic John Wooden career, the 1948 NAIB championship game would exist as the only championship game a Wooden-coached team ever lost.
The answer to last week’s question was that Kyle Henson, the former Fleming County Panther was a member of two National Football Championships at Nebraska. The first to answer were Rodney Tolle, Matt Jones, Jerry Butler along with Chris Ullery, Mona Burns and Jordan Fritz.
This week’s question: Who did Marshall University play in their 1971 opening game following the devastating plane crash from a year before?
