The Royals will be looking for a new baseball coach.

Mason County co-athletic director Chris Ullery announced an immediate opening for the school’s head baseball coach in an email to local media members on Tuesday. The school’s athletic department had no further comment.

Tom Posey was the Royals’ coach for the past seven seasons, compiling a 116-90-1 record with five 39th District titles, including the last three. Mason County went 10-12 this past spring and fell to George Rogers Clark in 5 innings, 15-1, in the first round of the 10th Region Tournament.

Mason County advanced to the 10th Region Tournament in each of Posey’s seven seasons, but the only win in the regional tournament during that stretch came in 2014 against Nicholas County, 11-2.

Mason County’s only 10th Region title came in 1994.

All interested in applying for the position should email their resume and cover letter to Ullery at [email protected]
