CAVE RUN KIDS FISHING DERBY

The annual Cave Run Kid’s Fishing Derby is scheduled for June 2, providing another year of exciting fishing for children ages 1-15 who are accompanied by an adult. Each year hundreds of kids have enjoyed free fishing and other fun activities during this event. No fishing license is needed and there is no cost to participate. The Kids Fishing Derby will be held at the Minor E. Clark Fish Hatchery on KY Highway 801 South, where kids are invited to join in the fun of fishing and other activities throughout the morning! With three ponds open for fishing participants will have the opportunity to reel in stringers full of channel catfish, rainbow trout, and even trophy sized large-mouth bass! Registration starts at 6 a.m. The three ponds will open for fishing from 7 a.m.-11 a.m. Youngsters should plan to bring a fishing rod, tackle, and a cooler for keeping their catch fresh, as well as lawn chairs to sit on. A variety of fishing baits will be provided as supplies last and there will be a limited number of fishing poles available for children who need to borrow one. Volunteers will be on hand to clean and filet each child’s catch at no charge and there will be free food, games, displays and prizes. Every child also receives a goody bag and a free t-shirt. DARIUS MILLER/CHRIS LOFTON BASKETBALL CAMP

The sixth annual Darius Miller/Chris Lofton skills camp is June 18-20 put on by Camp One. The camp is for all skill levels ages 6-15 and cost is $125. Days of the camp run 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Campers will be placed in small groups with kids of similar ages and skill level to allow maximum instruction.Each day campers will go through numerous stations focusing on fundamentals, participate in contest, as well as competing in 5-on-5 games. Parents can register campers online at thecampone.com or at the Tom Browning Boys and Girls Club. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Maysville. Group rates are available for teams, schools, siblings, and groups of friends. LADY BEARS VOLLEYBALL TRAINING CAMP

Bracken County High School will be hosting a volleyball camp July 18-20 for girls and boys grades 3-6 (upcoming school year). The camp runs from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and the cost is $40. The camp will be directed by Lady Bears coach Wade Smith, staff and members of the Bracken County volleyball team and past players. Lunch will be provided and every campre will receive a t-shirt. The camp focuses on individual attention and instruction and fundamental skill development including: passing, setting, serving, hitting, blocking, rotation, transition and footwork.
