ST. PATRICK 7, AUGUSTA 6, GAME 1 (BASEBALL)
The Saints rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth to come away with their second win of the season.
Trailing 6-4 in the final frame, St. Patrick tied things up with a two-run double from the bat of Baylen Bauer, who later scored the winning run after getting caught in a pickle from third to home and would eventually score on a Panther error.
Bauer ended up 2-for-3 on the day with two doubles and three RBIs. Owen Williams got the win on the mound, coming in for a third of an inning in relief, while Stephen Cordle took the loss, pitching 4.1 innings, allowing four hits and six earned runs while striking out nine and walking six.
Caleb Poczatek and Cesar Briseno added RBIs for the Saints in the victory.
For the Panthers, Cordle recorded the lone extra-base hit with a double, going 1-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored. Joseph Mains, Jon Barrett, Clayton Jamison, John Paul Cordle and Evan Brooks also added RBIs for the Panthers.
BRACKEN COUNTY 19, ROBERTSON COUNTY 7, 5 INNINGS, GAME 1 (SOFTBALL)
The Lady Bears won their seventh straight game by pounding out 15 hits against the Lady Devils.
Bracken was able to overcome committing seven errors in the field as Kaitlyn Wills led the charge at the plate with three hits, including a homerun and five RBIs. Olivia Bell and Savannah Engnes also recorded three hits while Katelyn Bond added two hits.
Robertson was led by Molly Hester and Breanna Green with two hits apiece, the loss ending a three-game winning streak. Robertson committed six errors of their own in the losing effort.
ROWAN COUNTY 11, FLEMING COUNTY 1, 5 INNINGS (SOFTBALL)
The Lady Vikings put a nine-spot up in the first inning helped by four Fleming County errors and the Lady Panthers could never recover.
Erin Wilburn pitched a complete-game in the circle while Brooklin Adams and Elaina Ward both added three hits for the Lady Vikings, winning a key 61st District contest.
The Lady Panthers lone run came when Sidney Argo scored on Morgan Fern’s RBI groundout in the first.
WESTERN HILLS 14, MASON COUNTY 3, 5 INNINGS (SOFTBALL)
A seven-run fourth inning and five Mason County errors proved to be the big difference maker in the Lady Royals loss Monday.
Leading 7-3 in the bottom of the fourth, Western Hills put the game out of reach with a two-out rally, scoring six runs during it.
Mason County got within four in the fourth when Emily Huber smacked a three-run double to get things close.
Lexy Cooper led the way at the plate with two hits while the Lady Royals had seven on the day.
FELICITY-FRANKLIN 16, GEORGETOWN 3, 5 INNINGS (SOFTBALL)
Felicity struck early and often in their run-rule victory over the Lady G-Men.
The Lady Cardinals put 11 runs up on the board in the first two innings and took a 15-0 lead into the fourth before Georgetown was able to put some runs up.
In the three-run fourth, the Lady G-Men got two runs in on a Caylee Graham double, who later scored on a passed ball.
The loss dropped Georgetown to 4-13-1 and return to action Wednesday when they play at Clermont Northeastern.
